Job Summary

Kiewit is hiring a Batch Plant Superintendent to oversee concrete production operations at its fixed Abilene facility and support South Central District heavy civil work. The role leads plant performance, safety, quality, staffing, materials, and delivery coordination.

Project Details

The South Central District delivers highway and heavy civil infrastructure, including excavation, bridges, concrete, asphalt paving, and related transportation work. This position is based in Abilene, Texas, with work potentially occurring at other locations.

Responsibilities

• Direct batch plant safety, maintenance, production, and uninterrupted concrete supply.
• Oversee mix designs, trial mixes, material procurement, supplier coordination, and contract administration.
• Supervise craft personnel through general foremen and foremen, tracking productivity, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
• Coordinate with engineering, superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and district leadership.
• Support scheduling, labor and equipment planning, cost forecasting, quantity tracking, and job-cost updates.
• Address employee issues, operational problems, material alternatives, and schedule constraints.

Required Experience

• At least five years of construction experience, including three or more years supervising concrete ready-mix batching, material procurement, and mixer truck drivers.
• Heavy civil construction experience and knowledge of batch plant maintenance, safety, quality control, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings, and DOT requirements.
• Ability to evaluate craft performance, communicate effectively, work independently, and maintain strong safety and ethical standards.
• Reliable attendance, willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed, and ability to follow safety and operating procedures.
