Job Summary
Kiewit is seeking an Emergency Response Medic for a site-based data center construction project in Abilene. Reporting to the Medical Manager, this hands-on field role will provide emergency medical response and support the project’s emergency preparedness program.
Project Details
The position supports the SMR-X construction program within Kiewit’s Industrial District, which delivers complex industrial work including data centers, mineral processing, energy, and water projects.
Responsibilities
- Assess, triage, stabilize, and provide emergency care for injuries, illness, trauma, and other incidents within current qualifications.
- Respond to medical events, fires, confined-space incidents, falls, high-angle rescues, and other construction emergencies.
- Coordinate patient transport with EMS, hospitals, fire departments, and other response agencies.
- Participate in the project Emergency Response Team and Incident Command System during incidents and exercises.
- Help maintain emergency plans, rescue plans, response equipment, medical supplies, AEDs, trauma kits, and fire-response resources.
- Lead or support drills, simulations, rescue scenarios, training, inspections, incident reviews, and emergency-readiness documentation.
Required Experience
- At least five years of professional emergency response experience in EMS, fire service, disaster response, industrial response, search and rescue, or a comparable high-risk environment.
- Demonstrated real-world emergency response experience, including medical assessment and traumatic-injury response.
- Experience with an Incident Command System or comparable emergency-command structure.
- Current or prior EMT, Advanced EMT, Paramedic, firefighter, or equivalent emergency-response certification is strongly preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include CPR/AED and BLS, Firefighter I/II, FEMA or ICS training, confined-space rescue, technical rope rescue, HAZMAT response, and industrial ERT experience.
- Must be physically capable of participating in emergency response and rescue activities and able to work effectively under pressure.
