Job Summary

PCL Construction Services is hiring a Field Engineering Student for a full-time summer internship supporting its data center construction operations in Abilene, Texas. The internship runs from May through August 2027 and is designed for students preparing for careers in construction engineering, project management, field supervision, or estimating.

Project Details

The intern will support PCL’s growing national data center business unit at an active project site in Abilene.

Responsibilities

• Support field and project engineers, project managers, and superintendents with daily project activities.
• Review drawings and specifications, maintain field records and equipment, and assist with surveying and layout.
• Track submittals, process RFIs, and help manage project documentation.
• Participate in safety and quality audits, project meetings, and coordination with subcontractors, vendors, and field staff.
• Prepare meeting records, correspondence, contracts, and other project documents.
• Assist with estimating and obtaining scope and pricing information from subcontractors and suppliers.

Required Experience

• Currently enrolled full time in a construction-related degree program such as construction management, construction engineering, or construction technology.
• Available to work full time at the Abilene project site from May through August 2027.
• Must be at least 18, authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship, and able to pass a third-party substance abuse test.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Must be able to navigate a construction site daily and climb ladders and stairs.
