Abilene Safety Specialist Industrial Construction

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to support field safety execution on industrial construction projects in Abilene and other project locations. The role reports to the Project Safety Manager and helps implement site-specific safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, maintenance, communication, and field execution of site-specific safety plans.
• Work with craft employees, operations teams, subcontractors, and project leadership to promote safety ownership.
• Use stop-work authority, review work plans before activities begin, and help resolve field hazards and corrective actions.
• Conduct daily hazard inspections, support incident investigations and first aid response, and maintain required safety records.
• Assist with safety training covering company procedures, OSHA and MSHA requirements, NCCER, SIMS, orientations, and client standards.

Required Experience

• At least three years of construction safety experience.
• Knowledge of construction safety practices and current federal and OSHA requirements.
• Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, or a related field preferred.
• Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician certification preferred.
• Microsoft Word and Excel experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and careful attention to detail.
• Ability to access all areas of construction sites and work independently or as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to travel, relocate, work overtime, and work weekends as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $90,000-$94,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement plans with matching, and paid time off.
