Job Summary

Kiewit is hiring a Telecommunications Field Engineer to support field delivery of telecom and low-voltage construction on a large mission-critical data center project in Abilene, Texas. The position connects engineering documentation, planning, coordination, and daily site execution.

Project Details

The role supports telecommunications infrastructure within a data center environment, including fiber and copper cabling, pathways, racks, cabinets, and equipment installation. Kiewit's Industrial District also delivers data center, energy, water, and mineral processing projects throughout the United States. This project-based position requires relocation and may include assignment at sites across the country, with office rotation in Denver or Lenexa.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily telecom activities with the Telecommunications Superintendent and other construction disciplines.
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, work packages, and installation plans.
  • Maintain as-built records, installation documentation, testing records, and material tracking.
  • Track installed quantities, production rates, progress, forecasts, and schedule updates.
  • Conduct field quality inspections and assist with punch lists, issue resolution, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and site inspections.
  • Support foremen, craft workers, trade partners, and subcontractors with field coordination and installation issues.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, technology, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
  • One to five years of construction experience, preferably in telecommunications, low-voltage, electrical, or data center work.
  • Basic knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optics, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, construction documentation, and telecom standards such as BICSI, TIA/EIA, or NEC is preferred.
  • Ability to work safely in active construction environments, manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and work extended hours, weekends, overtime, and varying shifts.
