Assistant Field Engineer (Hourly)

Job Summary

Holder Construction is seeking a full-time Assistant Field Engineer to support operations on a construction project in Manassas, Virginia. The role focuses on field layout, surveying, project control, and coordination with crews and trade partners.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vertical and horizontal project control.
• Support field engineering crews and coordinate layout activities.
• Perform construction layout using total stations, levels, lasers, data collectors, and tablets.
• Check foundations, anchor bolts, embeds, slabs, walls, and other work against drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with field teams and resolve layout issues.

Required Experience

• Previous experience leading construction layout crews.
• Ability to operate surveying and layout equipment and interpret structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings.
• Basic AutoCAD and Bluebeam knowledge, plus familiarity with construction layout methods and site constructability.
• Working knowledge of construction tools, measurement conversions, geometry, trigonometry, and concrete quantity calculations.
• Strong communication, time management, computer, and organizational skills.
• Reliable transportation, willingness to travel, and availability for overtime and weekend work.
• Ability to work outdoors, navigate uneven surfaces and elevated areas, and lift layout equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
