Assistant Field Engineer (Hourly)

Job Summary

Holder Construction is hiring a full-time Assistant Field Engineer to support field operations on a project in Culpeper, Virginia.

Project Details

The role supports construction layout and field engineering activities for Holder's Culpeper project.

Responsibilities

• Maintain project control and support field engineering crews under the direction of a Field Engineer.
• Perform surveying and construction layout using total stations, levels, lasers, data collectors, and related equipment.
• Check layout for foundations, anchor bolts, embeds, slabs, walls, and other work against drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate daily field activities with crews, project staff, and trade partners while resolving layout issues.

Required Experience

• Previous experience leading construction layout crews.
• Ability to read structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, layout methods, building constructability, and standard field tools.
• Ability to perform construction-related algebra, geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, and concrete quantity calculations.
• Reliable transportation, strong communication and computer skills, and availability for overtime or weekend work.
• Ability to work in an OSHA-compliant environment, travel as needed, and perform outdoor field work involving uneven surfaces, heights, ladders, scaffolds, and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
