Assistant Project Manager South Central

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support field-based delivery of heavy civil and transportation construction projects in its South Central District. The role oversees project execution, cost, schedule, quality, and coordination with project stakeholders, with most working time spent at the jobsite.

Project Details

The South Central District delivers infrastructure work across the region and nationally, including mass grading, drainage, paving, utilities, transportation, and water-resource projects. Assignments may be located across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

Responsibilities

• Direct project teams and coordinate scope, schedules, budgets, procedures, and project controls.
• Represent the project in meetings and communications with clients, subcontractors, vendors, constructors, and project staff.
• Manage approvals and adjustments related to scope, cost, schedule, and client requirements.
• Monitor engineering deliverables for quality, applicable codes, industry standards, and contractual compliance.
• Train and mentor entry- and mid-level engineers while tracking progress against project milestones.
• Work safely and accommodate overtime, weekends, and varying project locations as required.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of related construction experience or training.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Advanced knowledge of construction disciplines, union agreements, jurisdictional requirements, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, drawings, and contract documents.
• Strong leadership, planning, negotiation, safety, contract administration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to access all areas of a construction site and work independently with minimal supervision.
