Assistant Superintendent

Job Summary

PCL Construction Services is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for its Florida Buildings Group in Jacksonville. This role supports field leadership, project execution, safety, scheduling, documentation, and coordination with project teams and trade partners.

Responsibilities

• Support the site superintendent and project manager in carrying out the construction plan and safety program.
• Lead, coach, and coordinate project personnel, trades, and company crews while monitoring productivity, quality, and safety.
• Identify schedule concerns, work conflicts, constructability issues, and project risks for escalation and resolution.
• Help prepare project execution plans and short-term resource-loaded schedules.
• Coordinate field engineers, estimators, clients, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain compliance with drawings, specifications, contracts, and documentation requirements.
• Conduct effective site meetings and maintain project correspondence and records.

Required Experience

• Journeyman certificate or bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• Approximately three years of field engineering, field coordination, lead hand, or foreman experience preferred.
• Experience supervising construction personnel and applying construction methods, materials, specifications, and basic engineering principles.
• Working toward an NCSO designation and enrollment in the Gold Seal program as an intern are preferred.
• Ability to understand project schedules, identify critical-path activities, and use scheduling software.
• Knowledge of construction safety, environmental requirements, applicable legislation, and effective conflict-resolution practices.
