Building Controls Project Manager - Mission Critical

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking a site-based Building Controls Project Manager to lead controls planning, coordination, installation, commissioning, and delivery for mission-critical construction projects. The position manages Building Management Systems and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems while coordinating owners, commissioning agents, vendors, and subcontractors.

Project Details

This role supports mission-critical commercial facilities and controls systems, including BMS and EPMS installations, start-up, testing, balancing, and commissioning. The position requires extensive travel to project sites throughout the continental United States.

Responsibilities

• Manage controls design integration, contract document reviews, subcontractor coordination, and field implementation.
• Coordinate controls commissioning with the owner, commissioning agent, vendors, and controls subcontractors.
• Support schedules for controls start-up, testing, balancing, system checkout, and commissioning activities.
• Review controls materials and equipment before installation and monitor installation and start-up progress.
• Coordinate vendor installation and operational verification, equipment controls, submittals, and system reviews.
• Report project progress and represent the company in owner meetings.
• Support preconstruction planning for controls scopes on mission-critical projects.

Required Experience

• At least 7 years of construction, controls design, or controls coordination experience.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
• Mission-critical construction experience highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of construction and design practices, mechanical and plumbing systems, and medium- and low-voltage electrical systems.
• Experience with controls subcontracts and subcontractors.

Compensation and Benefits

For California locations, the salary range is $113,500-$141,900. For Colorado locations, the estimated salary range is $103,200-$129,000. Bonus eligibility and travel subsistence may be available under company guidelines.
