Charlottesville Construction Project Manager

Job Summary

Barton Malow Builders is adding a Construction Project Manager to its Charlottesville project delivery team. This role supports complex construction work across Central Virginia, with a focus on planning, cost control, procurement, field operations, and client coordination.

Project Details

The team delivers projects in healthcare, higher education, and sports and entertainment, including renovations, athletic facilities, and community-focused developments. The position may support work across the Greater Richmond Region.

Responsibilities

• Develop procurement strategies, bidder lists, bid packages, scopes, subcontracts, and pre-bid processes.
• Build project schedules, site logistics plans, cash flow forecasts, manpower projections, and constructability reviews.
• Oversee jobsite safety, punchlist completion, emergency procedures, equipment coordination, and mechanical, electrical, and BIM coordination.
• Manage general conditions, trade budgets, cost projections, changes, cash management, and project profitability.
• Lead project meetings and coordinate RFIs, submittals, office procedures, closeout, agency acceptance, and architect and engineer communications.
• Support labor relations, business development, proposals, client relationships, and repeat-project opportunities.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
• At least six years of general contractor or construction management experience.
• Healthcare construction experience is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
