Fiber Field Engineer

Job Summary

Kiewit is hiring a Fiber Field Engineer in Abilene, Texas, to support field execution, quality, documentation, and engineering coordination for large-scale fiber optic and telecommunications construction.

Project Details

The role supports complex industrial district work that may include telecommunications infrastructure, data centers, energy and water, and other major construction programs across varied project locations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate fiber installation activities with superintendents, subcontractors, project engineers, project managers, and design teams.
• Monitor production, identify schedule or field risks, and provide progress updates.
• Inspect pathways, duct banks, cabinets, enclosures, patch panels, splicing, and labeling for compliance with project requirements.
• Maintain redlines, as-built records, production reports, installation logs, issue trackers, and turnover documentation.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, material deliveries, inventory control, planning, sequencing, and field problem resolution.

Required Experience

• At least three years of field engineering or construction support experience, preferably in telecommunications or fiber work.
• Hands-on experience with fiber installation in active construction environments.
• Knowledge of fiber infrastructure, QA/QC inspections, redline markups, as-builts, production reporting, RFIs, submittals, and material tracking.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work safely in fast-paced field conditions.
• Large-scale telecom, data center, infrastructure, design-build, EPC, construction drawing, specification, or BIM experience is preferred.
• An associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
