Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Field Engineer to support construction operations on a major heavy civil transportation project in Santa Clara County. This full-time, on-site role offers the opportunity to contribute to a large-scale tunnel and station program.

Project Details

The approximately $3 billion infrastructure project includes three stations, tunnel portals, mid-tunnel facilities, tunnel boring machine operations, slurry walls, and systems supporting ground stability, adjacent structures, and groundwater control. The Northern California District also delivers heavy civil, transportation, water resource, and power work throughout the West Coast.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret plans and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Measure installed work, verify quantities, and track completion progress.
  • Prepare work plans, work packages, job hazard analyses, and as-built information.
  • Support surveying, layout, elevation control, and field documentation.
  • Coordinate labor timekeeping, material deliveries, work groups, and site schedules.
  • Participate in safety reviews, toolbox talks, training, and other jobsite safety activities.
  • Supervise field operations and help coordinate daily construction activities.

Required Experience

  • At least two years of construction field experience, preferably in heavy civil work such as roadway, concrete, asphalt, earthworks, bridges, rail, water, or wastewater.
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with engineering teams and leading engineers.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents and identify discrepancies.
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety, ethics, integrity, reliable attendance, and productive teamwork.
  • Ability to access construction sites in varied environments and work overtime or weekends when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $85,000-$110,000, with a potential cost-of-living adjustment for employees in select Northern California locations. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, wellness and assistance programs, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
