Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Field Engineer to support heavy civil construction operations at the Rinconada Water Treatment Plant upgrade in Los Gatos, California. This full-time field role offers the opportunity to contribute to a major water infrastructure project within the company’s Northern California District.

Project Details

The approximately $305 million project includes a new ozone generation facility, liquid oxygen system, chlorine contact basin, and advanced filtration improvements. The planned completion date is April 2029.

Responsibilities

  • Track installed quantities through field measurements and progress verification.
  • Support work plans, work packages, surveying, layout, control points, and as-built documentation.
  • Review labor time records and coordinate material deliveries.
  • Help plan and coordinate site work groups and supervise field operations.
  • Prepare job hazard analyses and participate in safety meetings, reviews, and training.
  • Build effective working relationships with craft personnel and project staff.

Required Experience

  • At least two years of construction field experience, preferably in heavy civil work such as water, wastewater, roadway, concrete, earthwork, bridges, or rail.
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents and identify discrepancies.
  • Strong communication, organization, initiative, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safe, ethical, productive work and reliable attendance.
  • Availability for overtime and weekend work when required, with willingness to travel or relocate.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $85,000-$110,000 per year, with a possible cost-of-living adjustment for employees in select Northern California locations. Benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage, wellness and assistance programs, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
