General Superintendent

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a General Superintendent to lead its largest and most complex commercial construction projects in Kansas City, overseeing all aspects of field execution from initial planning through closeout. This is a senior field leadership role with a career path toward Director of Field Operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple large-scale, complex projects simultaneously, providing oversight to project teams across the full project lifecycle.
• Lead all field safety efforts, investigate incidents, and foster an injury-free work environment.
• Develop, implement, and adjust project schedules in coordination with Project Managers.
• Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform work, including workforce planning and timecard approval.
• Lead daily standups, weekly trade meetings, and owner-architect-contractor (OAC) progress meetings.
• Monitor project budgets and costs using project management systems and cost reports.
• Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and pre-punch coordination at closeout.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives, training development, and internal talent identification and development.
• Communicate project status to owners, design teams, governing authorities, and subcontractors.

Required Experience

• 12+ years of construction experience with 10+ years of field supervision.
• Demonstrated success leading complex commercial construction projects exceeding $200M in value.
• Advanced knowledge of construction trades, self-perform work, means and methods, scheduling, and budget management.
• Proficiency in project management software, scheduling tools, and MS Office.
• Experience applying Lean principles on construction projects (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
