General Superintendent Thermal

Job Summary

Barton Malow is seeking a General Superintendent to lead all field operations on large-scale thermal energy construction projects, overseeing discipline-specific superintendents across MEP, civil, controls, and construction scopes.

Project Details

The role focuses on thermal energy market projects, including ground-up thermal facilities and H-Class or large-class thermal turbine builds.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day on-site administration, construction processes, and field-related activities across all project disciplines.
• Lead field leadership meetings covering safety, trade coordination, and schedule.
• Enforce compliance with project procedures, safety plans, quality management processes, and client requirements.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, municipal authorities, and other project stakeholders.
• Coordinate with internal design, preconstruction, and engineering teams to resolve field issues.
• Provide technical assistance, drawing interpretation, and construction method guidance.
• Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
• Partner with internal commissioning teams and manage final construction documentation turnover to clients.
• Collaborate with Trade Directors on craft supervision and project staffing.

Required Experience

• 15+ years of construction experience, including large-scale thermal energy market projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing H-Class or large-class thermal turbine builds.
• Proven track record leading multiple field teams and developing direct reports.
• Strong understanding of thermal ground-up construction processes.
• Ability to manage change and adapt to evolving project requirements.
• Willingness to travel for project assignments.
