Job Summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Safety Specialist for a Department of Energy construction site near Blackfoot, Idaho. The role supports field implementation, auditing, and continuous improvement of project safety programs while reporting to the Project Safety Manager.

Project Details

This position supports commercial nuclear and Department of Energy construction work within Kiewit's nuclear solutions business. Daily attendance at the Blackfoot site is required, and night work may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• Partner with craft workers, operations teams, and subcontractors to reinforce safety ownership in the field.
• Use stop-work authority when work does not follow approved procedures, plans, regulations, or company requirements.
• Inspect work areas daily, identify hazards, and help implement corrective actions.
• Review work plans and work packages before activities begin and assist with field problem-solving.
• Maintain safety, accident, and injury records in accordance with company policies and OSHA/MSHA requirements.
• Support first aid response, emergency medical relationships, incident investigations, and corrective solutions.
• Assist with safety orientations and training covering company policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.

Required Experience

• Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, or a related discipline preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and applicable federal and OSHA requirements in commercial nuclear and DOE environments.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong communication, organization, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, access all areas of an active construction site, and operate across varied climates and conditions.
• Reliable attendance, safe work practices, and willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
