Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Lead Field Engineer for its South Central District to support heavy civil construction operations, project controls, and field engineering on infrastructure projects throughout the region and across the United States.

Project Details

The role supports highway, bridge, rail and transit, aviation, water and wastewater, power, and site development work. Typical operations include grading, excavation, drainage, paving, underground utilities, concrete forming, and related self-performed construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret construction documents, calculate installed quantities, support surveying and layout, and compile as-built information.
  • Prepare work plans, hazard analyses, reports, submittals, purchase documents, and project records.
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, schedules, field operations, and jobsite safety activities.
  • Support estimating through plan reviews, risk identification, historical cost analysis, and material takeoffs.
  • Track labor, costs, changes, requests for information, and other project controls with jobsite management.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or a related field plus more than two years of relevant construction experience; six years of related experience and education may substitute for the degree.
  • Working knowledge of CPM scheduling, estimating, material controls, subcontracts, change orders, documentation, and construction management systems.
  • Leadership, communication, planning, organization, and coordination skills are required.
  • Experience with paving, grading, excavation, cut and fill, anchor bolt installation, or concrete forming is preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel, relocate, work overtime or weekends when needed, and perform safely across varying jobsite conditions.
