Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Lead Field Engineer to support structural steel and mega power construction in the Kansas City or Wichita markets. The role combines field supervision, engineering coordination, project administration, estimating support, and jobsite safety leadership.

Project Details

The Eastern District delivers heavy civil and power-sector work, including structural steel erection, bridges, transit, foundations, tunnels, water and wastewater facilities, and energy projects throughout multiple markets.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings and specifications, calculate installed quantities, prepare work plans, and support surveying, layout, and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate crews, material deliveries, schedules, subcontractors, and field operations.
  • Participate in safety reviews, toolbox talks, mass safety meetings, training, and job hazard analysis preparation.
  • Maintain project records including daily reports, photographs, RFIs, correspondence, cost data, and schedule updates.
  • Support submittals, purchase orders, subcontracts, change orders, cost reporting, and customer or agency communications.
  • Perform material takeoffs, technical calculations, plan reviews, bid analysis, and estimating support.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • At least two years of construction field experience; medium- or high-voltage experience is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents and identify discrepancies.
  • Experience in engineering and leading engineers, with strong communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to access all areas of a construction site and work safely in varying climates and conditions.
  • Reliable attendance and availability to work overtime and weekends as project needs require.
