MEP Superintendent (Mission Critical)

Job Summary

Barton Malow is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to lead field operations on a mission-critical data center project near Philadelphia. This role demands expert-level knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and a strong background supervising complex MEP installations on technically demanding, fast-paced projects.

Project Details

The project is a ground-up mission-critical data center near Philadelphia, involving high-reliability MEP infrastructure including HVAC, UPS, generators, power distribution, and critical cooling systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of MEP subcontractors and trades to meet productivity, quality, and safety targets.
• Monitor MEP system installations for compliance with project documents, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Enforce OSHA safety regulations and serve as the on-site MEP safety leader.
• Lead MEP coordination meetings with project management, subcontractors, vendors, and design professionals.
• Review and manage field-level MEP documentation including installation drawings, RFIs, submittals, and equipment logs.
• Support BIM coordination efforts, ensuring constructability and field conflict resolution.
• Align field execution with project milestones through short-interval planning and look-ahead scheduling.
• Oversee installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems.
• Submit daily field reports on manpower, progress, and issues; contribute to weekly project reporting.
• Support QA/QC inspections, punch list management, and final system turnover.

Required Experience

• 7+ years of hands-on MEP field supervision experience on mission-critical or data center projects.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, electrical power systems, and plumbing in high-reliability environments.
• Proficiency reading construction documents, installation drawings, and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with BIM processes and tools such as Bluebeam, BIM360, and Procore.
• OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain.
• Strong leadership and multi-trade coordination skills under tight schedules.
