Job Summary

Barton Malow Builders is seeking a Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations and coordinate project teams and contractors for its education group in Metro Detroit.

Responsibilities

• Support bid preparation by developing work scopes, assisting with front-end documents, evaluating potential bidders, and participating in post-bid discussions.
• Lead daily jobsite activities, organize field labor, and coordinate contractor sequencing.
• Implement company safety requirements, including pre-task planning and field compliance oversight.
• Assist with project cost control, forecasting, and review of contractor changes and time-and-material work.
• Prepare site logistics plans that support productivity and limit disruption to building occupants.

Required Experience

• At least four years of direct project supervision experience, including oversight of trades.
• Four-year technical or engineering degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills when working with contractors, architects, owners, and internal teams.
• Knowledge of construction methods, performance standards, environmental requirements, and workplace safety.
• Education construction experience is preferred.
