Job Summary
Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a mid-level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to provide technical leadership and design support for power-sector projects. The role may involve independent assignments or collaboration on large multidisciplinary engineering teams from proposal development through construction and commissioning.
Project Details
The Power Engineering group delivers EPC and consulting services across North America, supporting gas-fired generation, power delivery, environmental retrofits, renewable energy, new technologies, and water/wastewater facilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead or support I&C and SCADA system replacement, upgrades, and related power-project engineering.
- Prepare or oversee design calculations, drawings, specifications, equipment evaluations, and construction interfaces.
- Support proposals, cost estimates, feasibility studies, planning, and customer recommendations.
- Coordinate design activities with internal disciplines, construction teams, vendors, fabricators, equipment suppliers, and owners.
- Review supplier submittals and provide technical contract administration.
- Mentor junior and mid-level staff while coordinating project schedules and deliverables.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- At least five years of instrumentation and controls engineering and design experience, including three years in power generation.
- Experience with SCADA systems and PLCs; DCS experience is desirable.
- Familiarity with control-system programming concepts and applicable engineering codes and standards.
- Professional Engineer registration is preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, time management, leadership, and attention-to-detail skills.
Compensation and Benefits
Base compensation is $103,000-$108,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement plans with matching, and paid time off.
