Job Summary

Kiewit Power Engineering Group is seeking a mid-level Structural Design Engineer to support the design and construction of complex power and industrial projects. The role may be based in Lenexa, Kansas; Houston, Texas; Raleigh, North Carolina; Phoenix or Tempe, Arizona, with select additional offices beginning remotely.

Project Details

The engineering group supports gas-fired generation, power delivery, environmental upgrades, renewable energy, emerging technologies, and water and wastewater projects across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural concepts, analyses, calculations, drawings, specifications, and designs for power generation structures.
  • Apply applicable department, industry, and contract requirements to engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate structural issues with internal disciplines, construction teams, vendors, fabricators, owners, and other project partners.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, and deliverables while supporting department performance goals.
  • Identify improved workflows and help manage technical risk and field safety considerations.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • At least five years of structural engineering and design experience.
  • Power or industrial market experience is preferred.
  • Experience with engineering software; SAP2000, SAFE, and Mathcad are preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and IBC standards.
  • Professional Engineer licensure is preferred, along with strong English communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work safely, collaborate professionally, and work overtime or weekends when needed.
