Preconstruction Project Manager (Heavy Civil)

Job Summary

Granite Construction is hiring a Preconstruction Project Manager to lead planning and pursuit work for heavy civil infrastructure projects in Tucson, Arizona.

Project Details

The role supports CMGC, CMAR, Design-Build, and Bid-Build projects involving highways, bridges, transit, water, aviation, and other large infrastructure work.

Responsibilities

• Lead pursuit planning, owner coordination, estimating, and estimate validation.
• Guide value engineering, risk workshops, design reviews, and constructability assessments.
• Build preconstruction schedules and coordinate operations, estimating, engineering, and project controls teams.
• Support GMP negotiations and owner presentations, prepare executive reports, and coordinate project turnover to construction.

Required Experience

• Ten years of progressive heavy civil project experience, including five years leading preconstruction or alternative delivery work.
• Experience with major infrastructure projects and strong knowledge of estimating, scheduling, risk management, and constructability reviews.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent heavy civil experience.
• Strong leadership, client relationship, communication, and organizational skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range is $126,623-$189,935. Benefits include paid holidays and sick leave, health and insurance plans, wellness programs, and a 401(k) match of 100% on the first 6% of eligible compensation deferred by salaried employees, with immediate vesting.
