Prefabrication Foreman 1 (Union) 2nd Shift Metal

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is hiring a Prefabrication Foreman 1 to lead a union fabrication crew on 2nd shift at its prefabrication shop in Kansas City. The foreman will oversee offsite fabrication of wood and steel components destined for JE Dunn project sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and monitor crew safety, security, and adherence to company safety culture.
• Plan and coordinate prefab production activities including crew sizing, scheduling, materials, and manpower.
• Track and report production units and labor hours; submit timecards.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, and coordination drawings.
• Communicate with project management and coordinate delivery of supplies to the production shop.
• Support quality assurance and quality control planning for assigned tasks.
• Control costs by analyzing task-specific production reports and managing resources.
• Mentor team members and share subject matter expertise to support crew development.
• Create and implement safety plans; conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance.

Required Experience

• 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, manufacturing, or a fabrication shop environment.
• High School Diploma or GED required; apprenticeship or vocational/trade training preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency with computers or iPads for daily task management.
• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing processes, layout skills, and crane flagging and rigging.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in varying shop conditions including heights and narrow workspaces.
