Job Summary

Mass. Electric Construction Company, a Kiewit subsidiary, is seeking a Project Engineer 1 to support electrical construction projects in the New York area. The position coordinates project engineering, controls, documentation, contracts, scheduling, and field support while assisting project leadership and managing technical and administrative personnel.

Project Details

The MEC Industrial District delivers large-scale electrical construction and maintenance work involving complex systems across industrial, power and energy, renewable energy, commercial, federal, bridge, special systems, and water-related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret plans, specifications, and design information while resolving technical conflicts, constructability concerns, and field discrepancies.
  • Maintain document control, submittal tracking, project logs, contract records, and project communications.
  • Support contract execution, subcontracting, purchasing, change management, cost projections, cash-flow forecasting, and project closeout.
  • Coordinate development and updates of the master schedule using project scheduling systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to field operations and participate in design, contractor, and client coordination meetings.
  • Support project-level safety, environmental health, quality, productivity, and team-management objectives.
  • Assist with leadership of project staff and manage direct reports or other assigned personnel.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least two years of construction or engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, planning, organization, delegation, teaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Working knowledge of project engineering, accounts payable and receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates, and subcontract administration.
  • Reliable attendance, professional communication, safe work practices, and the ability to work overtime or weekends when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $116,000-$121,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement plans with matching, and paid time off.
