Job Summary

Kiewit Building Group is seeking a senior-level Project Engineer to support multiple vertical construction projects from planning through closeout. The role offers a path toward project management through hands-on coordination, field oversight, financial planning, and team leadership.

Project Details

Kiewit's building portfolio includes offices, industrial facilities, education and sports venues, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, technology facilities, manufacturing, retail, and tenant improvement work. The team is based in the greater Washington, DC market and may relocate based on project needs and career development plans.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee subcontractor compliance, quality control, field conditions, and corrective actions.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents while identifying discrepancies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain master schedules in coordination with project management staff.
  • Manage drawing and document control, change tracking, distribution, and project closeout activities.
  • Prepare monthly cost forecasts and quarterly cash flow projections.
  • Recommend operational improvements and coordinate work across multiple projects.
  • Supervise and train junior engineers and project personnel.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • At least 5 years of construction or engineering experience, preferably in vertical construction.
  • At least 2 years managing engineers and project subcontractors.
  • Ability to analyze plans, specifications, and contract documents for discrepancies.
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety, ethics, teamwork, and meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel, relocate, work overtime, and work weekends when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $110,000-$140,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life insurance, disability, retirement matching, and paid time off benefits.
