Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Project Engineer for its Central District to support self-perform heavy civil, concrete, and infrastructure construction projects. The role manages technical and administrative work, coordinates project information, and leads field and cost engineering teams.

Project Details

Assignments may include highways, bridges, rail and transit, aviation, water and wastewater, power, and industrial facilities across the Rocky Mountain and Central regions. Self-perform scopes include concrete, rebar, formwork, earthwork, grading, drainage, paving, underground utilities, and site development.

Responsibilities

• Interpret contract plans and specifications, inspect field conditions, and resolve construction issues.
• Maintain project schedules, document controls, drawing logs, and contract change information.
• Prepare cost projections and cash flow forecasts while identifying operational improvements.
• Lead and develop project engineers and field teams across multiple assignments.
• Support project-level environmental, health, and safety programs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering plus at least five years of relevant project engineering experience, or ten years of equivalent construction experience without a degree.
• Self-perform construction experience and experience leading or mentoring Field Engineers are required.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents and identify discrepancies in the field.
• Experience with project controls, scheduling, cost reporting, and cost analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, scheduling tools, and financial systems.
• Power-project and concrete experience are preferred, along with strong communication, organization, and safety skills.
• Ability to travel or relocate as project assignments require; overtime and weekend work may be necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $115,000-$135,000 per year. Benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage, wellness and employee assistance programs, life and disability insurance, retirement plans with matching, paid time off, per diem on projects, and home trips for longer assignments.
