Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a mid-level Project Engineer to support transportation construction projects in its South Central District. This role coordinates technical delivery, project administration, financial performance, quality, safety, and communication across project teams.

Project Details

The district delivers highway and heavy civil work, including grading, excavation, trenching, bridges, concrete, and asphalt paving. Assignments are project-based and may be located throughout Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain schedules with field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Track revenue, costs, cash flow, billing, change orders, and financial variances.
  • Lead temporary works planning for scaffolding, shoring, access platforms, and related construction support systems.
  • Coordinate permanent design execution, inspections, quality control, and resolution of design issues.
  • Manage project closeout, punch lists, final inspections, documentation, and lessons learned.
  • Support client communication, construction execution planning, logistics, resource allocation, and sequencing.
  • Administer contracts and subcontracts from negotiation through closeout, including compliance and dispute resolution.

Required Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of construction or engineering experience.
  • At least 3 years managing engineers, with experience in cost control and schedule management.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents and identify discrepancies.
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, initiative, judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and meeting deadlines.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime and weekends when project needs require it.
