Project Manager 1 Commercial Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is hiring a Project Manager 1 to lead field and administrative operations on commercial construction projects in Kansas City. This role works closely with the Project Superintendent to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of project safety culture and mentor team members toward an injury-free environment.
• Manage the full buyout process including scope review, subcontractor selection, and subcontract issuance.
• Coordinate submittal schedules, shop drawing reviews, and timely return of approved submittals.
• Prepare, submit, and secure owner and architect approval for change requests.
• Lead monthly project reviews, OAC meetings, and progress meetings.
• Manage monthly subcontractor and owner pay applications.
• Develop and maintain the project schedule using Lean principles in collaboration with the Superintendent.
• Prepare monthly cost and margin forecasts and monitor budget performance.
• Oversee project closeout including punch lists, financials, subcontracts, and warranties.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of construction management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office; advanced proficiency in project management, accounting, scheduling, and construction technology software.
• Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
