Job Summary
Kiewit is seeking a senior-level Safety Manager to lead project-level health, safety, and environmental programs for its Southeast District. The role is based primarily in Florida or the U.S. Virgin Islands and requires independent judgment, strong communication, and effective coordination with project and client teams.
Project Details
The Southeast District delivers heavy civil, transportation, water resources, and related infrastructure work across the southeastern United States. The position may support complex oil and gas projects along with highways, airports, mass transit, tunnels, water and wastewater facilities, dams, and other infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead jobsite safety plans, inspections, hazard correction, workforce coaching, and regulatory compliance reviews.
- Oversee incident investigations, reporting, corrective actions, injury management, and citation management.
- Coordinate safety matters with client management, project leadership, home-office safety teams, and facility safety managers.
- Lead a team of three to seven safety coordinators and technicians.
- Plan, document, and deliver project and client-required safety training.
- Participate in general safety, supervisor safety, and daily toolbox meetings.
Required Experience
- 8–10 or more years managing large construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage safety programs on projects of increasing complexity.
- Knowledge of construction safety, applicable local and federal regulations, hazard recognition, recordkeeping, and injury management.
- Ability to work safely in varied weather, terrain, and operating conditions.
- Reliable attendance, professional communication, deadline management, and willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.
