Job Summary
McNally International is seeking a Safety Manager to lead field safety implementation on a tunnelling construction project beginning in Cleveland, Ohio. The role supports site operations, craft personnel, subcontractors, and project leadership while promoting compliance and proactive hazard prevention.
Project Details
McNally specializes in heavy tunnel and marine construction, including underground utility and transportation infrastructure such as water, sewer, power transmission, subways, and pedestrian corridors.
Responsibilities
- Implement and support the site-specific safety plan with field crews and operations teams.
- Conduct documented hazard inspections and help coordinate corrective actions.
- Review work plans, work packages, and detailed execution plans before work begins.
- Use stop-work authority when company policies, regulations, or approved plans are not being followed.
- Support incident investigations, first aid response, emergency medical relationships, and project recordkeeping.
- Provide safety training covering company, client, and project-specific requirements.
- Analyze leading safety indicators and help operations prioritize upcoming work.
Required Experience
- At least 8 years of construction safety experience, preferably on heavy civil underground projects.
- Degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and OSHA requirements, Microsoft Word and Excel, and construction safety documentation.
- Professional safety credentials such as CSP, CHST, or EM385 are preferred.
- CPR/First Aid, EMT, and OSHA or MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
- Must be able to access all areas of construction sites and work independently or collaboratively.
- Overtime, weekend work, regular attendance, and relocation flexibility are required as project conditions dictate.
Compensation and Benefits
Base compensation is $110,000-$140,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
