Safety Specialist 1

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist 1 to coordinate and implement field safety procedures on routine construction projects in Kansas City. This entry-level position supports project teams by identifying hazards, documenting findings, and helping maintain compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction site inspections and safety audits.
• Document hazardous conditions, recommend corrective actions, and track issue resolution through company systems.
• Conduct project-specific new-hire orientations and monitor drug and alcohol policy compliance.
• Review subcontractor and prime contractor safety practices.
• Participate in project planning and safety meetings and support safety committees.
• Assist with incident investigations, root-cause reviews, injury follow-up, and return-to-work coordination.
• Monitor project safety incentive activities.

Required Experience

• Zero to two years of construction or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety or a related health field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of federal, state, local, and company safety requirements.
• Ability to identify hazards, implement corrective measures, communicate effectively, and collaborate with project teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and required construction technology.
