Safety Specialist 1, Mission Critical

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist to join its Advanced Facilities Group in Kansas City, supporting mission critical construction projects including data centers, semiconductor facilities, and industrial manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular walk-through inspections and safety audits on assigned construction sites.
• Identify, document, and recommend abatement of hazardous conditions using internal safety management systems.
• Lead project-specific new hire orientations and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance.
• Monitor subcontractor and prime contractor safety program implementation.
• Participate in pre-planning and progress meetings to address safety matters.
• Support field leadership with safety committee activities and program execution.
• Assist in accident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Coordinate return-to-work efforts for injured employees and compile injury summary reports.
• Monitor and manage the site safety incentive program.

Required Experience

• 0–2 years of construction or related safety experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in a safety or health-related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Office and construction technology platforms.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; frequent standing, walking, climbing, and bending required.
