Job Summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to provide technical leadership across power-sector engineering and design projects. The role supports assignments ranging from proposals and estimating through design, construction, and commissioning, working independently or within multidisciplinary teams.

Project Details

Projects support power facilities and related infrastructure throughout North America, including gas-fired generation, power delivery, environmental upgrades, renewables, new technologies, and water/wastewater systems. The position may be based in Lenexa, Kansas; Lone Tree, Colorado; Houston, Texas; Raleigh, North Carolina; Phoenix/Tempe, Arizona; New York City, New York; Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey; or selected emerging offices with an initial remote arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support I&C and SCADA replacement or upgrade projects, resolving technical issues involving design, construction, equipment, and operations.
  • Prepare or oversee calculations, drawings, specifications, equipment evaluations, cost estimates, proposals, and feasibility studies.
  • Coordinate design activities with engineers, construction teams, vendors, fabricators, owners, and equipment suppliers.
  • Review supplier drawings, administer technical contracts, and support equipment selection and construction contract awards.
  • Mentor entry- and mid-level staff and provide technical direction across multidisciplinary project teams.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • At least 10 years of instrumentation and controls engineering and design experience; power-generation experience is preferred.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and PLCs; DCS experience is desirable.
  • Familiarity with control-system programming concepts and applicable engineering codes and standards.
  • Professional Engineer registration is preferred, along with strong communication, organization, leadership, and mentoring skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $143,000-$149,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, and vision coverage, wellness and employee assistance programs, life and disability insurance, retirement plans with matching, and paid time off. Normal operating hours apply, with overtime and weekend work as needed.
