Senior MEP Superintendent I and II

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring Senior MEP Superintendents at Levels I and II to lead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work on medium to large projects. The role provides field leadership, construction coordination, workforce oversight, and schedule support.

Project Details

Assignments are based at project sites in Minnesota, with most work located within 90 miles of Mortenson's Minneapolis office. Mortenson's broader portfolio includes sports, renewable energy, data centers, healthcare, and other complex construction markets.

Responsibilities

• Direct construction activities, crew assignments, site logistics, and work planning.
• Coordinate materials, equipment, inspections, engineering documents, and project specifications.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, including three-week look-ahead plans.
• Partner with project managers on labor, equipment, materials, forecasting, and budget management.
• Lead preconstruction planning, site meetings, crew sizing, and equipment selection.
• Supervise, coach, evaluate, and develop field personnel, foremen, and assistant superintendents.
• Implement the project safety program and manage union and open-shop issues.
• Maintain effective relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, union representatives, and site visitors.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction, civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or 10 years of trade experience.
• Level I requires at least 15 years of construction experience and 10 years in a supervisory role.
• Level II requires at least 18 years of construction experience and 13 years in a supervisory role.
• Mechanical or electrical contractor experience is preferred.
• Current driver's license and basic knowledge of construction law and standard business practices.
• Strong communication, listening, coaching, and team leadership skills.
• Full-time presence at assigned Minnesota project sites is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay ranges from $144,300 to $216,500 for Senior MEP Superintendent I and from $164,300 to $246,500 for Level II, with location-based adjustments in select markets. The position is eligible for an incentive plan and includes medical, prescription, vision, dental, 401(k) matching, paid leave, employer-paid insurance, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and other programs.
