Senior Project Engineer Sports Commercial Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to manage a small project or a defined component of a larger, complex sports or commercial construction project. This role sits on-site with the project team and carries responsibility for project administration, field coordination, scheduling, subcontractor management, and closeout — with a clear career path toward Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimate preparation for base project scope, self-perform work, and change requests.
• Manage the submittal process and procurement log to stay aligned with the project schedule.
• Prepare and maintain the project schedule for the assigned scope of work.
• Review and approve monthly subcontractor and vendor pay applications.
• Coordinate pre-planning, OAC, and monthly project review meetings.
• Monitor and report production statistics, daily manpower, equipment tracking, and progress updates.
• Lead project closeout including punch lists, as-built drawings, and operations and maintenance manuals.
• Mentor junior team members and implement Lean construction practices.
• Manage project risks related to subcontractor performance, financials, and resource allocation.

Required Experience

• 3+ years of construction experience.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience with large, complex sports or commercial construction projects ($10M+) preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, project management software, and construction accounting tools (CMiC experience a plus).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to build relationships across trades and project teams.
• Knowledge of Lean construction principles and self-perform labor productivity.
