Job Summary

Kiewit Power Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to provide independent technical leadership for complex power and industrial construction projects. The role supports design development, engineering analysis, constructability, risk reduction, and coordination with project and field teams.

Project Details

The engineering group works across North American power markets, including gas-fired generation, power delivery, environmental retrofits, renewable energy, emerging technologies, and water and wastewater facilities. The position may be based in Lenexa, Kansas; Houston, Texas; Raleigh, North Carolina; Phoenix or Tempe, Arizona, with remote-to-hybrid arrangements planned for future offices in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Detroit, Michigan; and Richmond, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and quality-check structural calculations, plans, engineering documents, and design changes.
  • Resolve technically challenging design issues and evaluate alternatives for quality, cost, schedule, and constructability.
  • Lead structural engineering activities, interpret applicable codes and standards, and manage multiple assignments or proposals.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, construction teams, internal customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Review and correct the work of engineers and designers while serving as a technical resource and mentor.
  • Identify scope changes and support safe, accurate, and budget-conscious project delivery.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • 10-20 years of relevant experience in industrial or power generation engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently determine engineering methods, lead complex work, and train other engineers.
  • Strong written, verbal, cross-functional, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project and field teams, meet deadlines, and work overtime or weekends when required.
  • Regular, reliable attendance and a commitment to safe work practices required.
