Southwest Project Engineer

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a mid-level Project Engineer for its Southwest District to support the administrative, technical, financial, and field coordination needs of major construction projects. The position serves as a liaison between construction management and engineering teams while helping develop field and cost engineers.

Project Details

The Southwest District delivers heavy civil, transportation, water, and industrial work across Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, and Utah. Projects may include highways, bridges, runways, terminals, transit systems, power plants, water treatment facilities, dams, canals, wastewater plants, and tunnels.

Responsibilities

• Manage project schedules, contracts, subcontracts, and closeout activities.
• Track revenue, costs, and cash flow while supporting operations planning.
• Coordinate design management and quality control.
• Maintain client relationships and serve as a technical and administrative liaison.
• Lead and mentor field and cost engineers.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
• At least five years of construction or engineering experience, preferably in power generation.
• Industrial experience and prior experience managing engineers.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents and identify discrepancies.
• Strong communication, organization, time management, initiative, and attention to detail.
• Commitment to safety, ethics, teamwork, reliable attendance, and meeting deadlines.
• Availability for overtime, weekends, travel, and relocation as project needs require.
