Job Summary
Kiewit is seeking a senior safety specialist to lead safety management for electrical industrial construction projects. The role supports field operations and protects employees, craft workers, subcontractors, and consultants.
Project Details
Mass. Electric Construction Co., a Kiewit subsidiary, delivers technically complex electrical work in the industrial market. The initial assignment may be based in Boise, Idaho, or New York, with relocation opportunities determined by project needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop, communicate, and audit site-specific safety plans and ensure alignment with OSHA, regulatory, industry, and company requirements.
- Work with craft personnel and field operations to promote safety ownership and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.
- Perform daily hazard inspections, support corrective actions and first aid, and coordinate with emergency services.
- Lead incident, near-miss, and accident investigations; identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Coordinate inspections and audits, track safety performance indicators, and provide reports to project and senior management.
Required Experience
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience and at least five years of construction safety management experience.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices and federal and OSHA standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, along with strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to access construction areas in varied climates, work independently and collaboratively, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable attendance, safe work practices, and availability for overtime and weekend work as required.
Compensation and Benefits
Base compensation is $115,000-$120,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
