Substation Manager - Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering

Job Summary

Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering is seeking a Substation Engineering Manager to lead a growing team and deliver high-voltage power delivery work for utility and transmission and distribution clients.

Project Details

The role supports engineering-only and EPC substation projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV, including physical substation design and protection and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and manage a local team of substation engineers and designers.
• Provide technical direction for primary equipment, protection and control, layouts, grounding, lightning protection, wiring, and cable routing.
• Oversee engineering packages such as one-line diagrams, equipment arrangements, schematics, bills of material, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordinate civil, structural, transmission, SCADA, and communications disciplines.
• Support project schedules, budgets, staffing, constructability reviews, field issue resolution, proposals, and estimating.
• Maintain quality and technical performance while supporting client and construction-team requirements.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of substation engineering or management experience.
• Active P.E. license required.
• Bachelor's or graduate degree in engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Knowledge of engineering and construction standards, scheduling, contracts, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Strong leadership, communication, team-building, organizational, and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, work occasional overtime or weekends, and operate in changing locations and conditions.
