Superintendent 1

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Superintendent 1 to support the planning, coordination, and field execution of construction projects in Kansas City. This entry-level superintendent role offers a path toward Superintendent 2 and involves coordinating people, materials, equipment, safety, quality, schedules, and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, company staff, site logistics, and daily workflow.
• Promote an injury-free work environment, investigate incidents, and reinforce safety practices.
• Develop subcontractor and self-perform work plans, manage schedules, and support cost and budget tracking.
• Lead daily, trade, progress, and project review meetings and communicate with owners, designers, authorities, and project partners.
• Maintain drawings, logs, reports, inspection records, timecards, and other project documentation.
• Manage material and equipment needs, support procurement, and help select tools and formwork for self-perform operations.
• Monitor quality requirements, coordinate closeout and pre-punch work, and support project changes and buyout activities.
• Assist with staffing, recruiting, project planning, contract compliance, and implementation of Lean construction practices.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• At least 3 years of construction experience, including 1 year of field supervision experience.
• Working knowledge of construction means and methods, project processes, scheduling, project management and accounting software, and MS Office.
• Intermediate knowledge of trades, self-perform work, labor productivity, construction layout, crane flagging, and rigging.
• Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, organization, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions and non-traditional hours when project needs require.
