Superintendent 1 (Union)

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is hiring a Superintendent 1 to help plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned construction projects in Kansas City. This is a union field leadership role suited for someone with at least three years of construction experience and a track record of field supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of jobsite safety culture and mentor others toward an injury-free environment.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform crews across safety, quality, and EEO programs.
• Develop and adjust the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Oversee material and equipment needs, including procurement and approval processes.
• Run daily standup and weekly trade meetings; participate in OAC and project review meetings.
• Maintain project documentation including drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
• Track unit costs, approve timecards, and support budget monitoring through project management systems.
• Coordinate project closeout activities including pre-punch walkthroughs with owners and architects.
• Partner with field leadership on staffing and participate in subcontractor buyout meetings.
• Identify and negotiate project changes with the owner and design team.

Required Experience

• 3+ years of construction experience with at least 1 year in a field supervision role.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, project management software, and scheduling software.
• Working knowledge of construction means and methods, trades, self-perform work, and labor productivity.
• Ability to apply Lean process principles on the jobsite.
• Intermediate knowledge of layout, crane flagging, and rigging.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours and travel or relocate as projects require.
