Superintendent 2

Job Summary

JE Dunn's technology integration subsidiary, Aptitude, is seeking a Superintendent 2 to manage moderately complex construction projects in Kansas City. This role owns field execution from start to finish — safety, scheduling, quality, subcontractor coordination, and budget tracking — while working alongside a Project Manager and broader project team.

Responsibilities

• Lead field safety culture, investigate incidents, and retrain staff as needed.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform work plans from start to finish.
• Build and maintain the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Run daily standup and weekly trade meetings; attend OAC progress meetings.
• Monitor project budget and costs using project management cost reports.
• Maintain project documentation including drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
• Oversee material and equipment procurement and timecard approval.
• Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and third-party resources.
• Support project closeout, pre-punch activities, and owner/architect coordination.
• Identify and actively manage project risks; recommend solutions to the team.
• Participate in project pursuits, buy-out meetings, and monthly project review presentations.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of construction experience with at least 3+ years in field supervision.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, project management software, and scheduling software (intermediate level).
• Working knowledge of construction means and methods, trade scopes, and self-perform labor productivity.
• Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy; experience with Lean principles preferred.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.
