Superintendent 2 (Union)

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is hiring a Union Superintendent 2 to plan, manage, and execute moderately complex commercial construction projects in Kansas City. This role oversees field operations from start to finish, managing subcontractors, self-perform work, safety, schedule, and quality on standalone projects or major portions of larger efforts.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of field safety culture and investigate incidents as needed.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and company staff across safety, quality, and EEO programs.
• Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-perform scopes.
• Create, manage, and adjust the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Track project budget and costs using project management cost reports.
• Communicate project information to owners, design teams, governing authorities, and subcontractors.
• Maintain daily reports, logs, drawings, and inspection notebooks.
• Manage material, equipment, and timecard approval processes.
• Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and outside resources.
• Support project closeout including pre-punch coordination with owner and architect.
• Identify and actively manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in project pursuits, buy-out meetings, and monthly project review meetings.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of construction experience with at least 3+ years in field supervision.
• Demonstrated success leading complex commercial projects exceeding $20M in value.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, project management software, scheduling software, and construction technology.
• Ability to apply Lean construction principles.
• Knowledge of specific trades, self-perform work, and labor productivity.
• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
