Superintendent Heavy Civil Construction Northwest District

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a heavy civil Superintendent to lead field operations for transportation and infrastructure projects within its Northwest District. The role is based in Anchorage and requires travel and relocation as project needs change.

Project Details

The Northwest District delivers earthmoving, roadway, bridge, dam, water resources, wastewater treatment, underground utility, railroad, and transit work across Alaska and the western United States.

Responsibilities

• Supervise field operations, craft personnel, foremen, and general foremen while supporting staff development.
• Coordinate subcontractors, field meetings, client communication, project planning, and issue resolution.
• Review labor rates, job costs, cash-flow projections, change orders, and contract administration activities.
• Maintain project records and guide completion, turnover, performance evaluations, and staffing decisions.
• Promote safe, productive work practices and ensure projects meet schedule, quality, and performance expectations.

Required Experience

• At least 5 years of construction experience, including 3 or more years supervising heavy civil projects.
• Experience with roads, bridges, dams, water or wastewater facilities, utilities, earthwork, heavy equipment, traffic control, paving, and signage.
• Working knowledge of construction safety, scheduling, cost control, drawings, specifications, union agreements, and jurisdictional requirements.
• Ability to interpret plans and specifications for railroad, transit, and related construction work.
• Valid driver's license, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and ethical conduct.
• Willingness to relocate for training or project assignments and work overtime or weekends when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $115,000-$120,000 per year. Full-time employees are offered medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
