Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations for heavy civil infrastructure and water projects through its Southern California District. The position is based in San Diego with opportunities on projects across the United States.

Project Details

The district delivers earthwork, water and wastewater, transportation, roadway, and power infrastructure. Current or anticipated project locations include Southern California and sites in Texas, New Mexico, and Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate civil construction activities, crews, materials, equipment, and labor levels.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop field teams while maintaining effective communication and collaboration.
  • Enforce safety requirements and verify work meets plans, specifications, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Track costs, approve monthly job-cost updates, and manage subcontractor and field contract administration.
  • Resolve field issues, communicate with clients, and maintain daily reports, schedules, change orders, and other project records.
  • Support staff development through mentoring and performance evaluations.

Required Experience

  • At least three years of construction experience, including three years in a superintendent or construction leadership role.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction disciplines, union agreements, jurisdictional matters, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, drawings, and project documentation.
  • Strong leadership, planning, negotiation, communication, organizational, and contract administration skills.
  • Ability to learn company processes and software, access all areas of a construction site, and work overtime or weekends when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $115,000-$120,000 per year. Relocation assistance or per diem and paid trips home may be available for assignments away from the employee's home area.
