Survey Part Chief - Mobile Bridge Project

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Survey Party Chief for the Mobile River Bridge & Bayway Project. This temporary field leadership role will direct survey operations supporting bridge, roadway, marine, and heavy civil construction in Mobile, Alabama.

Project Details

The Kiewit Bridge & Marine District delivers complex transportation infrastructure, including bridges, ports, terminals, piers, waterfront structures, foundations, marine work, structural concrete, steel erection, and heavy lifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise survey crews conducting layout, control, as-built, topographic, and quantity verification work.
• Establish and check horizontal and vertical control networks for bridge, roadway, drainage, utility, and marine construction.
• Use GPS, robotic total stations, digital levels, laser scanners, data collectors, and related survey technology.
• Coordinate survey deliverables with engineers, superintendents, subcontractors, and construction schedules.
• Confirm field work meets design tolerances, resolve discrepancies, and maintain reports, field notes, records, and as-built documentation.
• Support project safety planning and follow site safety requirements.

Required Experience

• At least five years of construction surveying experience, preferably on major bridge, transportation, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects.
• Experience leading construction survey crews and performing staking, control surveys, and as-built verification.
• Proficiency with GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, survey software, coordinate systems, and survey calculations.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, CAD drawings, and survey data.
• Degree or diploma in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Valid driver's license, reliable attendance, professional communication, and flexibility for overtime, weekends, changing work conditions, and locations.
