Job Summary

Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering is seeking a mid-level Overhead Transmission Engineer to support utility and energy clients on transmission line design and EPC projects across the United States. The position may be based in Portland, Oregon, or Salt Lake City, Utah.

Project Details

Projects include overhead transmission systems ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV, covering traditional engineering design and construction-integrated delivery for utility, renewable energy, industrial, and oil and gas markets.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and analyze overhead transmission lines, including routing, structure loading, conductors, insulation, and hardware.
  • Prepare and review plan and profile drawings, loading documentation, foundation loads, bills of materials, and construction packages.
  • Model transmission designs with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole or PLS-Tower, SAG10, and related tools.
  • Evaluate routing alternatives, environmental limitations, constructability, and cost during feasibility and conceptual studies.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical disciplines and support design reviews, quality checks, procurement, and construction.
  • Respond to RFIs, review vendor information, and help resolve field issues.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, or structural engineering.
  • Five to seven years of overhead transmission line design experience in a utility, EPC, or consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with PLS-CADD and related transmission engineering software.
  • Knowledge of NESC, ASCE, and utility-specific design standards.
  • Reliable attendance, effective professional communication, safe work practices, and the ability to meet deadlines are required.
