Transmission Line Engineer Lead - Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering

Job Summary

Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering is seeking a senior technical lead to manage engineers and designers delivering overhead transmission line projects from 12 kV through 500 kV. The role combines team leadership, hands-on engineering, design quality oversight, and construction support for utility and EPC clients.

Project Details

Based in Westlake, Texas, this position supports transmission work across North America, including conceptual development, routing, structure selection, detailed design, procurement, and construction support.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coordinate transmission engineers and designers.
• Direct conceptual layouts, routing studies, structure selection, cost reviews, and constructability evaluations.
• Review plan and profile drawings, structure and foundation design packages, conductor and hardware specifications, bills of material, and construction work packages.
• Manage schedules, workloads, technical risks, and cross-disciplinary coordination.
• Support procurement and construction by answering RFIs and resolving field issues.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, electrical, or related engineering.
• 8–10 years of overhead transmission line design experience on utility or EPC projects.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and related tools such as PLS Pole/Tower and SAG10.
• Previous engineering team leadership or technical lead experience.
• Knowledge of NESC, ASCE, and utility-specific design standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across disciplines.
• Reliable attendance, safe work practices, and flexibility to work overtime or weekends when needed.
